IT Support Technician
SummaryThe IT Support Technician’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer software systems and network connections. The person will also analyze and resolve end user software program and connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. Position reports to the Director of IT.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose software and hardware problems
- Track, prioritize and document requests using the Help Desk request system.
- Install and configure new computers and other IT equipment
- Repair and upgrade different types of computers (software and hardware)
- Identify problems and repair printers, copiers and scanners
- Train users when required
- Be willing and able to travel up to 15% and, at times, on short notice.
- Communication skills using speech and writing
- Ability to systematically troubleshoot complex problems
- Ability to work in a Windows 2008 Server environment
- Valid Driver’s license and vehicle
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 3 years equivalent work experience.
- Extensive application support experience with Windows 7 Pro. Familiarity with Windows XP.
- Application support experience with Macintosh helpful
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007.
- Knowledge of local area network administration helpful.
- Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
