Specialty Chemicals & Microbial Platform Division

The objective of this division is to develop ‘Advanced Microorganisms / Biocatalysts’ by combining the knowledge and know-how of microbial physiology and metabolism with industrial processes for the target products. This division uses modern molecular biology tools & techniques to metabolically engineer the robust microbes, improves current engineered strains, screen & select appropriate microbial hosts to genetically engineer for the targeted product. The microbial platform host includes various microorganisms, such as, bacteria, yeast, and other thermophiles, and extremophiles. The target products include several specialty chemicals and biofuels, such as, lactic acid, succinic acid, ethanol, butanol, etc.
