Succinic Acid
Myriant biobased succinic acid lets you improve the environmental impact of your specialty chemical offerings.
Our proprietary biobased process uses less energy and creates less pollution than conventional crude oil-based manufacturing.
Succinic acid currently finds use in pigments, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, coatings and other applications.
Our biobased route to succinic acid produces this naturally-occurring four-carbon feedstock more efficiently. Biobased succinic acid can be used for the manufacture of a whole range of high-volume, high-value chemical products including 1,4-butanediol, tetrahydrofuran, and as a substitute for adipic acid.
Myriant has successfully produced biobased succinic acid at pilot scale and is currently producing ton-sized samples for customers.
In December 2009, Myriant won funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. Myriant will receive up to $50 million for its biobased succinic acid plant in Lake Providence, Louisiana. Construction will begin in 2010.
Our manufacturing facility in Lake Providence, Louisiana will produce 30 million lbs of biobased Succinic Acid beginning in 2011. The facility will be the world's largest biobased succinic acid plant, and can support our plans to expand due to the projected growth of this market.
